According to an update from Alberto Pereiro, relayed by Defensa Central , Kees Smit, Adam Wharton and Ayyoub Bouaddi are not currently being considered by Real Madrid. That is significant because all three names have featured prominently in the growing conversation around the club’s midfield plans. Real Madrid had made an attempt to sign Rodri , but that pursuit did not lead to an agreement, and the player is now closer to signing for Barcelona instead .  With the Manchester City star no longer appearing to be an option, attention shifted towards possible alternatives. However, the latest information suggests that the club is not planning to follow that route with any of the three midfielders now being mentioned. That has made the trio natural names to discuss whenever Real Madrid’s midfield needs are brought up. But Pereiro has now poured cold water on all three possibilities. Mourinho’s midfield plans face an unexpected problem The situation is quite interesting because Mourinho has previously made it clear that he values versatility and wants his squad to have enough depth to deal with a long season. A new midfielder had therefore been viewed as one of the areas Real Madrid could strengthen before the transfer window closes. The failure to land Rodri appeared likely to push the club towards another target. Instead, the latest update suggests Real Madrid could simply decide against making another midfield signing.
