The 22-year-old made 46 appearances in the National League for the Cumbrians last season as they missed out on promotion to the Football League, losing their play-off semi-final 2-1 at home to Boreham Wood in May after extra-time. Breeze will create competition for places alongside current U's number one Jake Eastwood, after Neil Harris' side held the best defensive record in League Two last year, conceding just 33 goals on their way to securing promotion to the third tier. Harris said: "Gabriel's a player we've tracked for a while now - a very young goalkeeper who already possesses valuable experience. "We feel that over a longer-term contract, he'll gain great experience and the opportunity to grow, but we also know he has the capability to step in and play straight away."
