Sampdoria set to bring in two players from the Belgian Pro League
Sampdoria set to bring in two players from the Belgian Pro League As reported by HLN , Sampdoria are set to bring in two players from the Belgian Pro League. The sides recruitment is led by former Anderlecht Sporting Driector Jesper Fredberg, who appears to be using his connections and knowledge of Belgian Pro League football to sign players for the side currently competing in Serie B. The first player Sampdoria look set to bring in is former Anderlecht midfielder Yari Verschaeren. Once tipped to be the next big player to emerge from the Anderlecht youth academy, Verschaeren was never quite able to make the leap, with injuries being a major factor. The 25-year-old played 262 games for Anderlecht, scoring 33 goals. He was also capped by Belgium at all levels, but has not featured for the national team since 2022. Last season, Verschaeren played 38 games for Anderlecht, scoring twice and providing four assists. Sampdoria are also reportedly set to bring in Club Brugge defender Bjorn Meijer. The 23-year-old left-back joined Club Brugge as a teenager from FC Groningen back in 2022, but has seen his playing time limited in recent years. While he did make 40 appearances for Club Brugge last season, most of these were off the bench. He did have a strong first season with Club Brugge, playing 46 games with four goals and seven assists. Both look set to join a Sampdoria side that are going into a fourth season in the second tier of Italian football. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson
