Confirmed: Istanbul to host 2027 Spanish Super Cup featuring Barcelona, Real Madrid The 2027 Spanish Super Cup will be held in Istanbul, after the RFEF’s executive committee approved the Turkish city as the venue for the tournament’s Final Four. The competition will take place from February 2 to 7, with all matches scheduled at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. A new destination Istanbul was selected after Saudi Arabia, which has hosted the tournament since 2020, was ruled out because the dates coincide with the Asian Cup. Saudi Arabia is expected to return as host in 2028. As mentioned previously, the matches will be played at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, one of Europe’s most famous football venues and the site of the Champions League finals in 2005 and 2023. The four teams The Spanish Super Cup tournament will feature four teams: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Real Sociedad. The Copa del Rey winners take on the La Liga runners-up, while the league champion will face the Copa del Rey runner-up. As such, for the 2027 edition, the confirmed matchups are: Real Sociedad vs. Real Madrid and Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid . Barcelona enter the competition as the reigning champions, having won the 2026 edition by beating Real Madrid in the final. The Blaugrana also happened to win the trophy during the 2024/25 season, which was the first silverware of the Hansi Flick era, with the Catalans hammering their arch-rivals in that edition’s final as well.
