Blow for Willem II as former Monaco and Cercle Brugge goalkeeper set to miss several months Willem II have announced that goalkeeper Thomas Didilon-Hödl is set to miss several months due to a hamstring injury. The former Monaco and Cercle Brugge goalkeeper suffered the injury during the sides opening game in the Eredivisie last weekend. Willem II lost 4-1 to Go Ahead Eagles and tests revealed a further blow after the game, with Didilon-Hödl now out for a few months. The former Monaco man was key in the sides return to the top flight, having saved a penalty and scored the decisive spot kick in their play off victory against FC Volendam. Didilon-Hödl began his career in Frace with Metz, with his first foray into Belgian football being the 2014/2015 season with RFC Seraing. After 71 appearances for Metz he joined Anderlecht in 2018, playing 46 games for the Mauves with a brief spell on loan at Genk. In 2020 he joined Cercle Brugge and was a key player for the side as he amassed 59 games. Monaco, the joint owners of Cercle Brugge, brought him in on loan for the 2022/2023 season. However, Didilon-Hödl only played once for Monaco before he eventually left Belgian and French football to sign for Willem II. Didilon-Hödl has been with Willem II since 2024, playing 82 games in total. The experienced Wouter van der Steen may be set for a prolonged spell in goal, unless Willem II decide to dip into the transfer market to cover for Didilon-Hödl. GBeNeFN  |  Ben Jackson
