Derby sign midfielder Mowatt from West Brom

Alex Mowatt is the fifth player Derby have signed this summer [Getty Images] Derby County have signed midfielder Alex Mowatt from West Bromwich Albion on a two-year deal for an undisclosed free. The 31-year-old's move to the the Rams comes just two days after their Championship rivals rejected an initial bid. Former Leeds United and Barnsley man Mowatt had a year remaining on his existing deal with the Baggies, where he had been since the summer of 2021. He made the last of his 170 appearances for West Brom in their Carabao Cup first-round win against Rotherham last week. Mowatt is the first player signed by Derby since the takeover attempt by Saudi Arabia government official Turki Al-Sheikh collapsed on Monday.
