Barcelona put striker pursuit on hold to complete blockbuster signing – report Barcelona are said to be giving priority to the signing of Rodri before turning their full attention to the complicated situation surrounding Julian Alvarez, reports Gianluigi Longari . It is known that the Blaugrana are active on multiple fronts in the transfer market.  While Alvarez remains Barcelona’s preferred option to reinforce the centre-forward position, the club believes the Rodri operation is currently closer to a resolution. As a result, Barcelona’s focus is on finding an agreement with Manchester City and completing the midfielder’s arrival before pushing harder for their Argentine attacking target. The club has already secured an important advantage in the negotiations, with Rodri giving Barcelona his approval and rejecting the possibility of joining Real Madrid.  Hence, the remaining challenge is to find a formula that satisfies Manchester City. Manchester City have taken a firm stance during the talks, with the financial details remaining the main point of discussion.  The overall package could reach around €80 million , particularly when add-ons are included, although some of those variables may be difficult to achieve. Barcelona, naturally, are trying to reduce the guaranteed amount and construct a deal that works within their financial limits. The important point from their perspective is that Rodri has already made his preference clear. Alvarez is Barcelona’s preferred striker, but patience is needed Barcelona’s search for a new centre-forward is continuing in parallel, with Julian Alvarez still viewed as the club’s preferred option. However, the circumstances surrounding the Atletico Madrid forward are far more complicated. Recent developments at Atletico have made the situation difficult to predict, and any possible agreement is expected to require more time.  Barcelona therefore appear unwilling to allow the uncertainty surrounding Alvarez to slow down their other transfer plans. Instead, the club is focusing their immediate efforts on Rodri, whose situation is considered more advanced.
