Atletico give emphatic response to Arsenal transfer enquiry
Atletico give emphatic response to Arsenal transfer enquiry Arsenal’s pursuit of a centre-back led them to make contact with Atletico Madrid over Marc Pubill in recent days, but talks did not go well. Photo by Florencia Tan Jun/Getty Images On Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel that Marc Pubill of Atletico Madrid was on Arsenal’s summer shortlist, and the Gunners made contact over the conditions of a potential deal. But Romano made it clear that whilst Pubill is very much appreciated by Arsenal, Atletico definitely want to keep the defender, and it looks like a difficult deal to do. Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images Jorge Garcia Hernandez has since reported for Spanish outlet AS that Atletico declared the player non-transferable, and they’ve refused to listen to any offers. Hernandez adds that the player feels happy with Atletico’s project. Though Arsenal were prepared to make a significant offer, the Spanish club are unyielding. The player’s €500m release clause means Arsenal would have to negotiate with Atletico, and the club are refusing to entertain any talks. The deal is currently considered impossible. The fact the club have so quickly moved onto another target suggests they received an emphatic response from Atletico. Photo by Daniela Porcelli/Getty Images
