Hamburg and Arsenal scheduled for fresh round of talks over Fabio Vieira deal Hamburger SV’s pursuit of Fabio Vieira could gather fresh momentum following the €7m-plus sale of Fabio Baldé to Racing Strasbourg. Vieira remains one of HSV’s priority targets after spending last season on loan at the Volksparkstadion. The 26-year-old Portuguese midfielder is understood to favour a return to Hamburg and has already reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club over personal terms. As Get German Football News reported earlier this month, HSV have already submitted an offer for Vieira , but remain some distance away from Arsenal’s valuation. The Premier League club have reportedly been demanding approximately €18m for a permanent transfer, while Hamburg would prefer to complete the deal for less than €10m. There may nevertheless be fresh movement in the coming days. According to Sky Sports – as relayed by FT – further developments are expected in the negotiations, with the broadcaster predicting that Vieira will ultimately return to HSV before the September 1st transfer deadline. Those fresh funds from the Baldé transfer give sporting director Claus Costa with additional flexibility in the Vieira pursuit. Vieira is not the only deal currently being pursued.
