Inter set for new round of talks for Jones after Liverpool’s white lie against Como Multiple sources in Italy claim that Inter have scheduled a new round of talks for Curtis Jones this week after the Liverpool midfielder was dropped for a friendly against Como on Sunday. (Photo by Geoff Stellfox/Getty Images) Corriere dello Sport, Tuttosport and Sport Mediaset are all confident that Jones wants to play for Inter, but the Nerazzurri are unwilling to match the Reds’ €40m asking price, mostly because Jones has less than a year left in his contract at Anfield. Jones was not involved in the two friendlies that Liverpool played against Como on Sunday, officially due to a hip problem. Sport Mediaset, however, notes that the explanation provided by the Liverpool medical staff was a ‘white lie’ given that the real reason for Jones’ omission was that the 25-year-old wants to play for Inter in 2026-27 and join his teammates John Stones and Djed Spence. According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter are ready to offer €30m plus add-ons, using a similar strategy to the one used to sign Spence from Tottenham. Spurs’ asking price for the English wing-back was close to €50m after the World Cup, but the North Londoners lowered their demands in August, allowing the Nerazzurri to sign the ex-Genoa man on their terms.
