The 30-year-old has made more than 240 international appearances, scoring almost 4,000 runs in white-ball cricket. In 2022, Luus was named captain of South Africa's Test squad for their fixture against England in Taunton. The leg-spinner has also played franchise cricket around the world, including a spell for Brisbane Heat in 2018, and winning the inaugural Caribbean Premier League with Trinbago Knight Riders in 2022. Surrey are currently fourth in the One-Day Cup table having won five and lost five of their opening 10 matches. Luus told the club website: "Surrey are among the greatest cricket clubs in the world, so it was an easy decision to join the team when I got the call. I'm excited to link up with the squad and play domestic cricket in England once again. "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute both on and off the field and hopefully help Surrey compete for silverware in the One-Day Cup." Emma Calvert, director of women's cricket at Surrey, added: "Suné is a fantastic addition to our squad. Her experience at the highest level, versatility as an all-rounder and leadership qualities will be hugely valuable to us for the remainder of the season."
