Lazio fans rage at ‘dictator’ Lotito after Coppa Italia exit: ‘From bad to worse’ Lazio fans continue their boycott and launched a bitter tirade at ‘dictator’ President Claudio Lotito after the humiliating Coppa Italia exit to Mantova. ‘It’s going from bad to worse!’ The Aquile supporters had already been refusing to enter the Stadio Olimpico for home games over the last few months in protest at the way the club was being run by Lotito. The situation was so bad in their first official match of the campaign that the attendance for the 2-0 Coppa Italia defeat was 5,528 with over 2,000 of those being visiting Mantova supporters. Even quite a few of the people in the ‘home’ seats were known to be Roma fans filming content to mock their rivals. Lazio ultras released a statement today that hit out at Lotito, coach Gennaro Gattuso, and new signing Davide Frattesi, who is a self-confessed Roma supporter. We resume from June 5 when we announced our decisions, which called 30,000 people into the streets on July 2 to protest. “Welcome Frattesi! S***w Frattesi! We are always happy when a new player wears the Lazio shirt, even more so if he grew up in our academy, but all this mustn’t distract from our objective. “After such a humiliating defeat, we need to remember that we’re battling the dictatorship of a man who cannot accept this failure and doesn’t have the vision to understand he’s reached the end of the line. “We’re not interested in new players, but new buyers for the club. The promise of a new stadium won’t change our minds, especially as we dislike the project of splitting the Curva Nord in two tiers. We want our freedom and will fight for that to our last breath! “We asked for some things, the simplest of which was GET ROMANISTI OUT OF LAZIO, but not even that worked. No sign of change, no desire to work towards what the fans want. (Photo by Marco Rosi – SS Lazio/Getty Images) “Clarification also on Mister Gattuso: welcome! There’s a lot of work to do. We’ll support you the way we did who preceded you. “But to all the players who do not honour the jersey in every match, who don’t put their balls on the line and don’t respect our history, we warn you to either put in the maximum effort or leave Lazio now! “The excuses are over, going out of the Coppa Italia against Mantova used up your last chance! “To all our Lazio brethren, we say not to fall into the trap of provocation. Some at Formello ‘hope’ that we’ll be banned from away matches so that we’ll flock back to the Stadio Olimpico, but they’re badly wrong! You’ll see us in the away sections of every stadium in Italy, and if they close organised trips, we’ll set about making an itinerary for ‘cultural tourism’ in the cities where our Lazio is playing.”
