Ajax make transfer swoop for promising Barcelona left-back Ajax have announced the signing of 19-year-old Jofre Torrents from La Liga champions Barcelona. The young left-back has signed a four-year deal in Amsterdam that ties him to the club until the summer of 2030. Torrents joined La Masia at the age of 10 and has progressed through all age groups before arriving on the first team fringes last season. There, he made four appearances, with three coming in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey. The Catalonian teenager has also made appearances for Spain at all youth levels. Last year, he notably featured at the Under-19 European Championships. Now, he becomes the second player from that side to join Ajax, following Jano Monserrate’s move earlier this summer. Technical Director Jordi Cruyff spoke highly of his side’s latest acquisition. “Jofre is a very talented player who has developed strongly over the past few years. We are pleased that we have been able to sign him at Ajax. “There was interest from several clubs, but he very consciously chose our plans and vision.
