Methalie draws Nuno Mendes comparisons

European youth football expert Alfred Frank says Dayann Methalie has the "most potential" of any player in his position currently on the market after Sunderland agreed a £25.6m deal to sign the French defender from Toulouse. Frank compares the 20-year-old defender to Paris Saint-Germain's Nuno Mendes, who is considered one of the best in the world at left back. He explained: "I think the player who Mathalie has been most compared to is Nuno Mendes, so with all dimensions considered in terms of style of play, I think you can imagine what type of style and attributes you're going to find in a player like Mathalie. "I think the price nowadays for players of his age coming from France especially comes a lot with the potential that there is behind the player and I think in terms of full-back, I think in my opinion he's got the most potential on the market at the moment. "The high price is if you're going off potential and you also have to take into consideration that due to the French national team's lack of players in his position, he could be a part of Zinedine Zidane's squad this season. "As soon as he makes that call-up to the France squad, his price will take a big increase. Signing him before he makes that France senior team debut is definitely a good move from my point of view. "I think Methalie has been mentioned for some time as a serious candidate for the France team. He has been linked with a lot of top clubs in the past and the expectations with the France fans are the highest we have seen with a full-back prospect for a while."
