Home extends Heed stay as Storey exits for Carlisle
Josh Home has signed a two-year contract extension with an option for a further 12 months with National League side Gateshead. The 20-year-old midfielder joined the Tyneside outfit from Birmingham City on loan in December 2023 before making his stay permanent the following season. Home, who has signed a deal until May 2028, made 39 league appearances for Gateshead as they finished 18th in the fifth tier last season. Gateshead remain in the hunt for a new manager after Rob Elliot and assistant Louis Storey both left to join Carlisle United. Elliot departed for Cumbria last month and both clubs announced on Wednesday evening that Storey, 32, had turned down a new deal as player-coach at Gateshead to join him. Storey has joined Carlisle as solely a coach, not a player.
