Official | Axel Witsel completes OGC Nice move Axel Witsel (37) has completed a move to OGC Nice. The Belgian midfielder has signed a one-year deal with the Ligue 1 club, as confirmed by the club on Tuesday night.  Witsel has played for the likes of Standard Liege, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, and Girona. His latest stint came at the former. He played 32 times for the Spanish side prior to the expiry of his contract. He featured for Belgium at the most recent FIFA World Cup. Despite not starting a game, he featured in the knockout games against the USA and Spain.  He strengthens a midfield that has been weakened. Charles Vanhoutte has left, as have Gabin Bernardeau and Tom Louchet. Laurent Abergel was signed from FC Lorient but has since suffered an ACL injury. He will now miss much of the season.
