Official | Paul Pogba leaves AS Monaco by mutual consent Paul Pogba (33) has left AS Monaco just one year into his two-year deal, the Principality club and the Frenchman announced in a joint statement on Wednesday. La Pioche  joined  Les Monégasques  last summer on a free transfer. It represented his first contract since a doping ban had sidelined him for almost two years. He followed an adapted programme and only made his first appearance for Monaco in November. A series of repeated injuries limited him to just six appearances and only 105 minutes of playing time across the campaign. Thiago Scuro thanked Pogba for his commitment in the statement announcing the midfielder’s departure.  “On behalf of the club, I simply want to thank Paul. We are very happy to have taken this path together,”  began the Principality club’s CEO.  He continued,  “We explained upon his arrival that it was a big challenge, an audacious and ambitious bet. Certainly, the outcome is not the one we would have hoped for, but that shouldn’t make us forget the enthusiasm that accompanied his return at club level, nor the fact that Paul, during this period, got back on a professional football pitch.” Pogba also made a comment in the official press release.  “I want to thank the president  (Dmitry Rybolovlev),  the management, my teammates, all of the staff, as well as the supporters who believed in me. Representing this club and the Principality was an incredible experience. AS Monaco is an exceptional club. Even if I didn’t participate in as many matches as I would have wanted, I will be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to represent the club’s colours,”  said the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder.  Pogba is now once again a free agent.  GFFN | Luke Entwistle – reporting from  Monaco
