Ajax defender set for Lommel switch
Ajax defender set for Lommel switch Ajax defender Tristan Gooijer looks set to leave the club in the coming days. The 21-year-old defender will swap Ajax and Dutch football for Lommel and Belgian football. Lommel , led by former Hibs and Bristol City manager Lee Johnson, are part of the City Group. They have been within the multi-club model since 2020 and won promotion for the first time to the topflight as part of the City Group last season. Mike Verweijj is reporting that Lommel will spend around 500k to sign Gooijer from Ajax. Gooijer will leave Ajax having played 13 times for the senior side, with a further 50 games for the Jong Ajax team. Last season he was loaned out to fellow Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle, where he played 24 times and scored three goals. On his return, it is clear that Ajax do not see Gooijer as part of their long-term plans and are therefore allowing him to depart for a nominal fee to join Lommel. Gooijer now joins a Lommel side expected to be battling against relegation from the Pro League this season. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson
