Lampard on team news, transfers and starting against the champions
Coventry boss Frank Lampard has been speaking to the media before Friday's opening Premier League game against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium (kick-off 20:00 BST). Here are the key lines from his news conference: Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni are "in contention" for the season opener but striker Haji Wright could be sidelined for "up to 12 weeks" with a quad muscle injury. Lampard said the season "couldn't start at a harder place" but Coventry will go to Arsenal "with belief" and will carry that throughout the campaign. On the Arsenal match: "I want to show in our performance and how we approach the game that we're not coming into it with fear. We respect Arsenal greatly, but it doesn't mean you play with too much respect that you are passive. We can hopefully show we are a good team that want to do something this year." He said "winning or losing at Arsenal won't define our season, but consistency over the course will". On the aim for this season: "To compete in every game that we play and to take every game as it comes." He said they "had to be patient" in the transfer window because of the World Cup, but he is "happy" with the eight signings that they have made so far. On whether there will be any more additions: "We will see. We knew we had work to do and we knew what the gap is because history tells you that. We've tried to strike the balance of working smartly in the window to bring in players to help the squad we already had. We will see for the remainder of the window about ins and outs."
