Official: Reijnders sale to Al-Qadsiah means Milan €56m profit from Manchester City Tijjani Reijnders has officially joined Mateo Retegui’s Al-Qadsiah for €61m from Manchester City, meaning Milan turned a total profit of €56m from his sale. The midfielder has decided to come to the Saudi Pro League just weeks after turning 28, and a year on from his move to Manchester City. That had been organised for €54.9m plus up to €14m in various performance-related bonuses. They anticipated this could happen, and asked Manchester City to guarantee that if the player was sold the next year, then the entire €14m package of add-ons would need to be paid. Although none of those came to fruition, Manchester City still have to pay them all to Milan. The €14m therefore takes the total fee paid to Milan for Reijnders up to almost €70m, significantly less than Manchester City are pocketing from Al-Qadsiah. It also means that as Milan paid €13m to buy the Dutchman from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023, they made a massive profit of €56m. Reijnders doesn’t do too badly out of it either, with reports his salary will reach €100m by the end of the five-year contract. His new teammate is Italy international striker Mateo Retegui.
