Watford sign Chelsea midfielder Jones on loan Watford have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Vera Jones on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Golden Girls this morning. The 18-year-old has spent the last two years with Chelsea after initially joining the club’s Professional Game Academy side. Jones is yet to make an impression on the South West Londoners’ first team, however, she got senior minutes in a loan spell with Barclays WSL2 club Bristol City last season. The midfielder made 18 appearances for The Robins in Barclays WSL2, providing two assists. She helped Bristol City to challenge for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League, although the club eventually fell narrowly short of the play-off position. Jones is seen as one for the future at parent club Chelsea and she recently signed a contract extension with the club until summer 2029. She signed her first professional terms with The Blues last year. On the international stage, Jones has represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-20 level. Jones is Watford’s 12th signing of the summer transfer window. The Golden Girls’ squad is nearing completion ahead of their first season back in Barclays WSL2.
