Real Madrid target presses pause on renewal talks with Manchester City – report
Real Madrid target presses pause on renewal talks with Manchester City – report Josko Gvardiol is Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho’s dream target to reinforce both the centre-back and left-back positions this summer, and the club have beeb in his pursuit for a few weeks now. The hurdle, however, has been Manchester City’s firm stance on not selling him and the contract renewal they have handed the player a proposal for – one which will close doors to an exit if he accepts. As revealed earlier today, the Premier League giants have offered Gvardiol a new and improved contract that the player can accept to extend his stay at the club. The ball, thus, was said to be in his court. A chance for Real Madrid Gvardiol has a tough decision to make. The Croatian star has reportedly asked Manchester City for time to make his decision and has put his renewal on hold as he is aware of Real Madrid’s interest in signing him. What has piqued his interest further, moreover, is the fact that his signing is one of the few ‘specific’ requests of Jose Mourinho himself, something that shows the player how valued he can be at the club. Critical weeks ahead Gvardiol is currently with the Croatian national team for the World Cup preparations, and it is no secret that he will be having conversations with Real Madrid legend Luka Modric on his decision. What may help their case is the rebuild at the English club with Pep Guardiola leaving and Enzo Maresca coming in. Should the deal fail, Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori stands out as their Plan B.
