Real Madrid set for further €15m windfall as defender nears Premier League move

Real Madrid set for further €15m windfall as defender nears Premier League move Real Madrid have only sold two first team players this summer (Fran Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia), and yet, they have managed to raise almost €200m from various pieces of transfer business. They have managed to rake it funds from various sell-on clauses being activated, including those of Alvaro Rodriguez (€15m) and Mario Gila (€10m) , and another such deal could be about to take place before the transfer window closes. Three years ago, Real Madrid sold Javi Rueda to Celta Vigo, and as part of that deal, they retained a 50% sell-on clause, which they often do when selling La Fabrica players. That decision could see them net as much as €15m in the coming weeks, with Diario AS reporting that Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the 24-year-old. Rueda has impressed for Celta over the last 12 months, and he could now be set for a move to the Premier League. The Galicians are likely to refer to his €30m release clause if/when Nottingham Forest come in for him due to how late it is in the summer, so if a deal is done, Real Madrid would bank a nice €15m. Real Madrid unlikely to spend again this summer Outside of a possible deal for Racing Santander midfielder Sergio Martinez , who would be a signing for the future, Real Madrid are unlikely to spend any more of the money that has been raised this summer, and that would not change even if Rueda were to leave Celta for Nottingham Forest. Jose Mourinho is happy with his squad, and at this stage, he has not requested the addition of a new midfielder after the club missed out on Rodri to Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether there are any further developments with Real Madrid in the coming weeks, but right now, it is not expected that there will be any further signings or exits in relation to the first team.
