The season is about to start, but some people still insist on talking individual awards at this moment. That included legendary former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player Toni Kroos. He backed a PSG star to win the Ballon d’Or this season, despite not having featured at the World Cup. Kroos backs PSG star for Ballon d’Or success “The Ballon d’Or winner? Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, for me is the clear number one for it. The four World Cup players: Messi, Bellingham, Mbappé, Rodri had mediocre club seasons. Kvara is the best player, also of the best club team in the world last season and currently.” He’s conveniently leaving Harry Kane out of the four there, after the Englishman had both a great season and a good World Cup, but still… As always in these matters, there is no right answer – everybody is making their mind up based on different factors. What everyone can agree on is that Kvaratskhelia should be very close to the top, even if he doesn’t quite manage to win the prize this time. In other news… A loan deal has been agreed for a young PSG player to move out on loan with a view to a permanent move. PSG’s asking price for Ibrahim Mbaye is pretty significant – they could end up scaring off Liverpool if they stick to it. If both Barcola and Mbaye go, there is some talk that PSG would consider making another attacking addition this summer.
