Manchester City look to be moving rapidly to add another winger to their squad Savinho is on the verge of completing his move to Tottenham. With Savinho set to be sold for a club record fee , Manchester City are in the market for a winger. Preferably one who can play predominantly on the right-hand side. Palmeiras’ tricky winger Allan Elias (Allan) has emerged as City’s preferred target to fill that role in Enzo Maresca’s squad. It now seems that City are moving rapidly to bolster their attack. Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Allan and are now in negotiations with Palmeiras to sign the Brazilian winger. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Palmeiras winger Allan. Furthermore, it is reported that Allan is eager to complete a summer move to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. Lastly, Romano adds that City opened negotiations with Palmeiras overnight in a bid to bolster Enzo Maresca’s squad. Allan may not be the big name that some crave, however in terms of being a Savinho replacement he could prove to be ideal. Palmeiras winger Allan is not a renowned star. He is highly rated in Brazil, but not held in as high regard as Rayan or Estevao, for example, who left Brazil for moves to Bournemouth and Chelsea at a younger age than Allan. Allan is 22 years old, and has made an impression for Palmeiras. Clearly, he has caught the eye of Manchester City. City have signed Gabriel Jesus and Vitor Reis from Palmeiras previously so they do know who they are dealing with in their bid to sign Allan. Also, City know that Palmeiras do produce quality players. The safe assumption would be that if Manchester City did succeed in signing Allan from Palmeiras he’d be viewed as player who would be a squad member rather than a regular starter. Enzo Maresca’s squad does need depth on the wings. Antoine Semenyo and Jeremy Doku are clearly City’s first-choice wingers. With Savinho gone there is space for a player like Allan. Especially when you look at his strengths as a player. First of all, Allan is exceptional in one-on-one situations with the ball at his feet. In statistics sourced from Fotmob , he is elite in terms of his dribbling and successful dribbles completed. In terms of statistics per 90 minutes played, Allan completes 2.79 dribbles per game at a 59.7% succes rate. With how Enzo Maresca caters his sytem to create one-on-one opportunities for the wide men, Allan fits this demand. Winning duels is another strength of Allan’s game. He is elite in this category as the Fotmob statistics highlight. With Maresca typically employing a high four man press, Allan should be more than capable of helping out significantly out of possession. That is another tick for the Palmeiras winger if Manchester City did sign him. However, the area of Allan’s game that would need to improve at City is his end product. He isn’t a prolific provider or scorer of goals or provider of assists. Allan does attempt 2.13 shots per 90′, but only 0.91 of those are on target. He has only scored 4 goals this season which shows a clear area of his game which needs to improve. Allan isn’t a prolific or quality crosser of the ball either. He completes 0.06 successful crosses per 90′ and his successful cross % sits at 6.7%. In possession Allan prefers to use short, clever passes which is more his strength in possession coupled with his dribbling. Final thoughts. Manchester City look to be moving rapidly to sign Allan from Palmeiras in a bid to replace Savinho. If City were to sign Allan he’d come to be a squad player more than a regular starter. The Palmeiras wide man would be a Savinho replacement and the graphic below gives the impression that Allan could prove to be a shrewd investment for Manchester City if they could sign him.
