Confirmed: Barcelona youngster secures permanent move away from club FC Barcelona have officially announced the transfer of Tommy Marques to SC Braga in the Portuguese league. “FC Barcelona and SC Braga have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Tommy Marques. The Club reserves a buy-back option and a percentage of a future sale of the player,” the club statement read. “FC Barcelona wishes Tommy Marques the best of luck in this new stage and thanks him for his dedication throughout all these years at the Club.” The19-year-old Barça academy graduate will leave the club and provide a significant financial return. The Portuguese side made the strongest push for the young midfielder, although Ajax had also shown interest. Ultimately, Marques has now signed for SC Braga. €11 million deal The deal was completed for a fixed fee of €11 million for 100% of the player’s rights. It is an excellent financial operation for Barça, who will also retain a buy-back option on the Catalan midfielder, as well as a percentage of any future sale. Marques joined La Masia at nine years old, arriving a decade ago. The Barcelona midfielder trained with the first team for much of the last campaign, although he retained a reserve-team registration and played for Barça Atletic in Segunda RFEF. He later made another appearance, playing a few minutes in an inconsequential defeat away to Alaves after Barça had already secured the league title. With his sale, Barcelona continue to move forward with their outgoing-transfer operation. The next players expected to leave include Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Guille, and Toni Fernandez.
