He had already been a target from last year for the Nerazzurri, and an attempted January swoop had also been rebuffed. Jones was one of the few ‘Scousers’ left in the Liverpool squad, as the 25-year-old spent his entire career with the Reds, coming up through their youth academy. He has six senior caps for England, scoring one goal.
