On Sunday, a defeat to RC Lens in the Trophée des Champions was followed by the news that the Parc des Princes was unusable for their opening game against Stade de Rennais , meaning this match would have to take place in Rennes.  Luis Enrique would be without Nuno Mendes for this game due to his suspension after he picked up a red card in the loss to Lens.
