Erling Haaland debuts new look in Manchester City win, cutting iconic long hair
It’s a new season for Manchester City, and star striker Erling Haaland has debuted a new look. Haaland has been known for his long blonde hair, which he used to put into an easily recognizable bun, also known as a top knot. Ahead of Manchester City’s season opener against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday morning, Haaland surprised fans with a YouTube video revealing that he had ditched his long locks for a buzzcut. The video shows Haaland not only getting his haircut but also the reactions of friends, family, and teammates. It was similar to the time the Jacksonville Jaguars showed Trevor Lawrence cutting his hair, but it turned out to be fake. When Haaland took the field on Sunday against Bournemouth, there were no camera tricks, and he indeed had cut his hair. Manchester City went on to win its season opener 2-1. Haaland didn’t score a goal, but he did have five total shots as Man City earned its first three points of the new Premier League season. The 26-year-old Haaland has been with Manchester City since the 2022-2023 season. So far, he has played in 133 career matches with the club. Haaland entered the 2026-2027 season with 112 goals and 24 assists. After Sunday’s win, Manchester City and Haaland will next take the field on Friday, August 28, against Crystal Palace.
