The reaction to City letting a selection of squad players go has seen this fact seemingly be forgotten. Tonight has seen four City players named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. This fact speaks to how much quality is in Enzo Maresca’s squad. Manchester City have seen four players named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. Tonight saw the PFA Premier League Team of the Year named. The lineup was predominantly made up of players from Manchester City and Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s side had five players included in the eleven. City had four. Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Brentford striker Igor Thiago were also named in the PFA Team of the Year. Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Rayan Cherki and Nico O’Reilly were rewarded for their strong 2025-26 season by being named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. Nico O’Reilly also won the PFA Young Player of the Year award to cap off a great night for him. City have  a strong squad and it should look a lot stronger when the transfer window closes. The Manchester City squad isn’t yet complete as it does require further additions before the transfer window closes. Those reinforcements are coming as the City hierarchy get to work in the final week of the summer transfer window. However, what the PFA Team of the Year does illustrate is how strong the base of Enzo Maresca’s squad is. Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo and Nico O’Reilly are all in the upper echelon of players in the Premier League. There is also Marc Guehi, Ruben Dias, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Jeremy Doku, just to name a few in the City squad. The recent focus has been on who City have sold, but what remains is an elite squad. If Manchester City nail their signings in the final stages of the summer transfer window, the equation will be a lot different and a sense of optimism will likely return. The quartet all had fine 2025-26 seasons which have been fittingly rewarded.
