Sunderland in talks to sign Marseille’s Igor Paixão Sunderland have seen a bid for Igor Paixão (26) rejected by Olympique de Marseille, as per a report from Foot Mercato. Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing. Marseille want to keep Paixão, ideally, but the club’s dire financial situation means that they are not in a position to turn down a strong offer for the Brazilian, just one year after his arrival. The Brazilian excelled on OM’s left and also continued to look sharp in pre-season. With Mason Greenwood gone, Paixão looked to be the leader of the attack, but also one of the players most susceptible to a big bid. An offer has arrived from Sunderland but it is not enough to convince the French club to sell just yet, although talks between the two clubs are ongoing.
