Standard Liege hoping to bring former Brighton striker back to the club from Widzew Łódź Kevin Sauvage is reporting that Standard Liege are looking to move quickly to replace the departing Dennis Ayensa . They are hoping to bring former Brighton striker Andi Zeqiri back to the club from Polish top flight side Widzew Łódź. Standard Liege are hoping that the former Brighton striker will be able to join them on loan for two seasons with a purchase option. Given how his time in the city of Łódź has gone, Zeqiri would likely be very open to a return to Liege. Zeqiri could have stayed at Standard Liege after his loan from Genk expired last summer. There was a purchase option included in the deal, but Standard Liege did not have the finances to make the move permanent. Instead, Zeqiri ended up moving to Poland to join Widzew  Łódź instead. The Swiss forward played 28 games for the side, scoring three goals, with only one of these coming in the league. During his one season with Standard Liege, Zeqiri scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 26 games. Prior to then, he had joined Genk in 2023 from Basel, scoring nine goals in 37 games. Zeqiri came through the youth system at Lausanne before joining Brighton in 2020. He only played 13 games for Brighton, scoring one goal in the EFL Cup during the 2021/2022 season. A successful loan spell from Brighton to Basel in 2022/2023 saw him join Genk, having scored 18 goals in 50 games for the Swiss side, That remains the best season of Zeqiri’s career so far.
