Leicester sign young Finnish defender Kangasniemi

Ilari Kangasniemi spent over 18 months in the Inter Milan youth academy [Getty Images] Leicester City have signed centre-back Ilari Kangasniemi from Finnish club FC Inter Turku for an undisclosed fee on a five-year contract. The 19-year-old becomes the Foxes' 10th summer signing, with the club having taken just one point from a possible six at the beginning of their League One campaign and having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Ipswich Town on Tuesday. Kangasniemi spent time in the Inter Milan youth academy but did not make a senior appearance for the Serie A club before returning to his home country last August. He told the club website: "I learned a lot [playing in Italy]. This league is much harder than the Finnish league, but I have a couple of European games under my belt, so I think that will be good preparation."
