Athletic Club manager praises Hansi Flick ahead of Barcelona clash: ‘Right man for the club’ Barcelona and Athletic Club meet at the Camp Nou tomorrow in a fixture that will bring together two German coaches with strong links to the Bundesliga, but Edin Terzic has made it clear that he does not see the occasion as a personal duel with Hansi Flick. Flick is beginning his third season in charge of Barcelona, while Terzic is preparing for his first major test as Athletic Club manager.  The two coaches know each other, and the Athletic boss revealed that he sought Flick’s advice before accepting the challenge in Bilbao. Terzic sought Flick’s advice Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Terzic spoke warmly about the Barcelona manager and explained why he spent time with Flick and his coaching staff before beginning his work at Athletic. “I have the utmost respect for Hansi. Despite their shared background and professional relationship, Terzic dismissed the idea that Barcelona vs Athletic Club should be viewed through the lens of the two managers. “Tomorrow, it’s Barça against Athletic, not Hansi Flick against Edin Terzic.” Athletic Club head to Camp Nou looking for first points The visitors travel to Barcelona determined to respond after their defeat to Sevilla left them still searching for their first points of the new season. Terzic knows the scale of the challenge awaiting his side at the Camp Nou, but he has no intention of allowing Athletic to approach the match as spectators. (Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images) “We’re not going to the dentist, nor are we going to the Camp Nou just to watch Barça play; we’re going to play good football and fight for the points. “It’ll be nice to meet up tomorrow, but for me the most important thing is to prepare my team as well as possible, and we hope to turn that into a good performance.” Terzic hails Barcelona and Real Madrid as close to “perfection” The Athletic Club manager also reflected on the level of competition in La Liga, describing Barcelona as one of the standout teams in a competition he considers among the strongest in world football. Terzic believes the presence of teams such as Barça is central to the league’s quality and acknowledged the strength of both Barcelona and Real Madrid at the current moment. “Last week I was asked about perfection, and these two teams are close to achieving that perfection right now,” he concluded.
