Dominik Livakovic’s first words after Barcelona transfer: ‘It’s all just wonderful’ Barcelona have officially secured the signing of Dominik Livakovic , with the Croatian goalkeeper putting pen to paper on a four-year contract with the club. The 31-year-old completed the formalities after visiting the offices of Barcelona president Joan Laporta and was joined at the signing ceremony by sporting director Deco, his deputy Bojan Krkic and vice-chairman for sporting affairs Rafa Yuste. Livakovic could barely hide his excitement after completing his move to the Catalan giants, describing the opportunity to represent Barcelona as a special moment in his career. “It’s lovely to be here; it’s a fantastic club – the president, Deco, Bojan… It’s all just wonderful,” he said, as per SPORT . The experienced goalkeeper also spoke warmly about the scale and stature of his new club. For Livakovic, after his journey from Dinamo Zagreb and a career that has earned him widespread recognition, he now has the chance to wear the Barcelona shirt at the age of 31. “There are many great clubs, but Barcelona is the most popular; it’s incredible.  “Just look at the players here – it’s impressive. The Camp Nou is one of the most special stadiums in the world.” Livakovic’s immediate Barcelona future remains unclear While the contract has now been signed, the next step in Livakovic’s Barcelona career remains to be determined. As such, it is still unclear whether the goalkeeper will remain with the first-team squad or spend the upcoming season on loan.  Regardless of the short-term decision, the club clearly see value in bringing an experienced goalkeeper of Livakovic’s profile into their plans. His arrival provides a strong sense of security in a position where Barcelona now appear well stocked, with Joan Garcia being the undisputed number 1. Barcelona strengthen for the future Barcelona’s goalkeeping department now appears to have both quality and depth. Joan Garcia’s presence gives the club a promising and proven option, while Livakovic’s experience could prove equally valuable. At the same time, Wojciech Szczesny continues to provide a well-established cover and he will continue to do so until the end of his contract, which runs out in 2027. Hence, the club has effectively strengthened an important area of the squad while keeping their options open regarding Livakovic’s immediate future.  Whether he stays or leaves temporarily on loan, Barcelona have ensured that they have another highly regarded goalkeeper under contract for the coming years.
