Charlton can learn from cup defeat - Mesik
Ivan Mesik believes Charlton can learn from their 5-1 defeat against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Nathan Jones' side made an excellent start to their Championship campaign, beating Derby and then winning at West Ham. It was a tough night in north London , though, with two goals conceded in the final minutes of the first half doing much of the damage. But Addicks defender Mesik told BBC Radio London: "We can learn a lot from this game. These are the kind of games we want to play. It's a dream to be tested against Premier League teams. "All of the positives from the last (league) games we have to take. If we keep this standard up, we can reach something where we will be happy at the end of the season." Charlton's task was made even more difficult when both their centre-backs, Collins Sichenje and Billy Koumetio, went off injured after 15 minutes. "We had to set up a different style, changed the formation and tried to play a different way," said Mesik. "It was tough because we conceded before half-time and it was tough at 2-0 down."
