Group reaches agreement for York Knights takeover
York Knights are 12th in Super League with three games to go [SWPIX.COM] York Knights have said a "locally-based" group have reached a deal to take a majority share of the club. The group, who will also take over Women's Super League side York Valkyrie, is headed by York businessman David Dickson. The Knights were promoted to Super League for the first time in their history last year. Neil Gulliver will step up to chief executive when the deal, which remains subject to formal approval from the Rugby Football League, is completed. "I brought ambition. I leave with enough friendships and memories to last a lifetime," outgoing owner and chairman Clint Goodchild told the club website. "On arrival I knew York was a proud rugby league city, but I didn't know then how much this place, this club and its people would come to mean to me." The Knights are 12th in Super League , two points above Huddersfield and Bradford, while Valkyrie are third in Women's Super League .
