Portsmouth sign midfielder Mohamed from Casa Pia

Iyad Mohamed has signed a three-year-deal at Fratton Park [Portsmouth FC] Portsmouth have signed defensive midfielder Iyad Mohamed from Portuguese side Casa Pia for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old Comoros international has signed a three-year deal at the Championship club. He played 35 times as he helped Casa Pia maintain their status in the Portuguese top flight last season. Blues boss John Mousinho told the club website: "We're delighted to bring in an athletic and powerful player, who also possesses a great range of passing. "He's a full international and has plenty of experience from his time in Portugal, but also a lot of potential. "We feel that Iyad has all the attributes required to do well in the Championship and are very excited to bring him to Pompey." Mohamed was born in France and came through the Dunkerque academy before signing for Auxerre. He also had spells with Caen and Pau before moving to Portugal.
