Dundee take Bournemouth defender Akinmboni on loan
Dundee have signed Matai Akinmboni on a season-long loan from Bournemouth after the defender impressed during a two-week trial. Akinmboni, 19, is a USA Under-20 international who joined Bournemouth in January 2025 from DC United. He is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League side. "Matai is a player that has very much impressed us since coming in on trial," said Dundee boss Steven Pressley. "He's young and has a lot of development to do and we think he'll provide us with competition in defence. He is also a good personality and character to have around the place. "Bournemouth have a lot of faith in him and it's encouraging that they trust us with his development." Watching Dundee's derby win over United last weekend has whetted Akinmboni's appetite for his Dens Park stint. "I want to play as much as I can and help the team keep the momentum going from the start of the season," he added.
