Southampton sign German defender Schlotterbeck
Keven Schlotterbeck has played 152 times in the Bundesliga [Southampton FC] Southampton have signed defender Keven Schlotterbeck from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg. The 29-year-old joins the club on a three-year-deal and is understood to not be a direct replacement for Taylor Harwood-Bellis who has been linked with a move away this summer. Keven Schlotterbeck is the older brother of Borussia Dortmund and Germany international centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck. Schlotterbeck told the club website: "I'm glad, I'm happy. I have big ambitions to go to the field, win games and go for it this year". Schlotterbeck arrives in England having made 152 Bundesliga appearances across spells with SC Freiburg, Union Berlin, VFL Bochum and Augsburg. He made 48 appearances for the Bavarian side, and captained them on 16 occasions. "I think my football vision is the same, so we get the chance to get it together and now I'm here, happy to be here, and attack this year in the Championship," Schlotterbeck said.
