The 20-year-old started his career with Chelsea, coming through the youth teams at Stamford Bridge and making his only first-team appearance as a substitute in an FA Cup tie in January 2024. He moved to the Foxes that summer on a "long-term contract" for a fee of about £4m and made his debut at the end of the 2024-25 campaign as City were relegated from the Premier League. Golding, Shrewsbury's ninth signing of the current window, will help fill the gap in midfield left by the injured Jack Price, who is out for several weeks with a hamstring issue. "We're really excited and appreciative of Leicester, how they have accommodated the move," Town head coach Gavin Cowan told BBC Radio Shropshire. "He's been on our radar for a while. He's a young guy who wants to reignite his career and will be a really good addition." BBC Radio Shropshire have also reported that Shrewsbury are close to agreeing a loan deal to sign young Burnley striker Kian McMahon-Brown. Last season's academy player of the year signed a two-year contract extension this summer with Burnley, where former Town chief executive Matt Williams is the chief operating officer.
