Eintracht Frankfurt set to sign Lilian Brassier and offload Arthur Theate
Eintracht Frankfurt set to sign Lilian Brassier and offload Arthur Theate Florian Plettenberg reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are on the verge of completing two transactions related to their summer defensive overhaul. French centre-back Lilian Brassier will join the RheinMainAdler from Stade Rennes after the Ligue 1 and Bundesliga clubs agreed to terms. Frankfurt are expected to pay approximately €8.5m plus bonuses for Brassier. The 26-year-old has already agreed terms on a long-term contract, with only final details between the two clubs remaining. Travel arrangements and a medical are now being planned. The impending arrival directly coincides with Arthur Theate’s expected departure. According to Plettenberg , Bologna have reached a full agreement with Frankfurt to bring the Belgian international back to Serie A. The deal will take the form of an initial loan containing a €15m purchase option. Theate has already received the green light to undergo his medical. The 26-year-old previously represented Bologna during the 2021/22 campaign before joining Rennes. Frankfurt subsequently brought the left-footed defender to the Bundesliga in 2024. Theate did not feature in head coach Adi Hütter’s squad for Eintracht’s opening-round Pokal fixture against SC St. Tönis. The Bundesliga club has been openly shopping him for a transfer. Brassier now appears poised to assume the vacancy created on the left side of the Frankfurt defense. Get German Football News’ 2026/27 Eintracht Frankfurt tactical preview highlighted the significant squad reconstruction taking place following Adi Hütter’s return.
