RB Leipzig to sign Chelsea striker Marc Guiu for under €20m RB Leipzig are on the verge of completing the signing of Chelsea striker Marc Guiu. Fabrizio Romano reports that Leipzig have reached a full agreement with Chelsea over a permanent transfer for the 20-year-old Spaniard. Sky Germany reports that the base transfer fee will reportedly come in below €20m. Chelsea are also expected to secure a sell-on clause as part of the agreement. Guiu arrives to address an obvious need in Martín Demichelis’ attacking corps. Rômulo is also currently unavailable with tendon irritation in his knee. The 24-year-old missed Leipzig’s DFB-Pokal opener against Eintracht Trier and will also sit out Saturday’s Bundesliga opener against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Twenty-year-old Tidiam Gomis led the line in Leipzig’s cup victory. The return of former Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku is expected to boost Demichelis’ options immediately. The Frenchman is fit for the Gladbach fixture and can operate as a centre-forward, false nine, No. 10 or on either wing. Guiu nevertheless represents a more natural option at the point of the attack. The Barcelona academy product joined Chelsea for approximately €6m in 2024. Guiu briefly spent time on loan at Sunderland last season, but Chelsea recalled him after only three appearances. Across the entirety of the 2025/26 campaign, the striker registered three goals and two assists in 16 competitive appearances. The move to Leipzig should provide the Spain youth international with a considerably clearer developmental pathway. Bitshiabu set for developmental Lens loan Leipzig are also close to sanctioning the temporary departure of centre-back El Chadaille Bitshiabu. Sky Germany reports that negotiations with RC Lens are at an advanced stage over a season-long loan for the 21-year-old French defender. Crucially, the proposed agreement will contain no purchase option. Leipzig therefore continue to plan with Bitshiabu beyond the coming campaign and view the move primarily as an opportunity for the left-footed centre-back to obtain regular competitive minutes and continue his development.
