It's a really tricky balance and whatever Liverpool decide to do will in return determine what their next moves are in the market. If Gakpo goes for example, Liverpool will pursue another attacker. Right now the options are slim. Yankuba Minteh is a player Liverpool have kept their eyes on for a long time but Brighton are demanding £80m for his services. It's a fair price from their point of view given the current market. However, from Liverpool's perspective The Gambian is currently injured and there's no denying signing him would be a massive risk. The alternative is Ismaila Sarr, who will be 29-years-old come the end of the current season. He brings experience and speed but he doesn't excel in one vs one situations and plays more like a forward rather than as an out-and-out winger. Is that truly the profile Liverpool need? It's not all doom and gloom of course. Liverpool are going to be making an exciting signing. A signing that is verging on being a record for the club, and it will likely be the record transfer of the window. The Reds are now on the verge of completing a deal for Bradley Barcola with the total package having been agreed with PSG at £123m, just £2m of shy of Alexander Isak's British and club record fee last summer.
