Cardiff have shown they can compete - Barry-Murphy

[Huw Evans Picture Agency] Brian Barry-Murphy believes Cardiff City have already shown they can compete in the Championship following their promotion from League One. The Bluebirds are still without a league win since returning to the second tier following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sheffield United. But the Welsh club also remain unbeaten, with three points taken from three games after draws with Wrexham and Derby County. Head coach Barry-Murphy says it is "fair" to say his team have proved they are good enough to deliver results in the Championship. "I think we know the level of challenge and we've relished it," he added. "We've gone behind against Wrexham, the start of the Derby game wasn't so comfortable either, so we've had tests and we just have to keep bouncing back and keep pushing forward. "We stayed very much as one [against Sheffield United] and in the second half. I thought we would score but it just wasn't to be." Cardiff take their search for a first league victory of 2026-27 to Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday before a trip to Portsmouth next Saturday. They then face home games against Stoke and Charlton - either side of a trip to Bolton – before the season's first international break. "We're desperate to win obviously," Barry-Murphy added. "We thought we could win [on Saturday] but it wasn't to be. We keep trying to play in the same way, keep attacking all the games, pushing forward and trust that if we do play as well again, we win."
