Wakefield confirm seven departures including Lino

Mason Lino scored the match-winning try for Wakefield Trinity against reigning Super League champions Hull KR in June [SWPix] Samoa international half-back Mason Lino is among a list of seven players which are set to leave Wakefield Trinity at the end of the season. The 32-year-old scrum-half leaves Belle Vue after five seasons at the club, helping Wakefield achieve promotion back to Super League in 2024. He has made just under 130 appearances for the club since joining from NRL side Newcastle Knights but has missed large parts of this season with injury. Also leaving the club are centre Cam Scott, who is set to join Bradford Bulls, and hooker Tyson Smoothy who is heading back to the NRL with Perth Bears. Australian back Lachlan Walmsley will also leave the club at the end of the season, Trinity said. The full-back has scored 18 Super League tries across the past two seasons. Experienced second-rower Jay Pitts is also pulling the curtain down on his second spell at the club. The 36-year-old has spent six years at the club after re-signing from London Broncos. He started his career at Wakefield in 2008 before joining Leeds Rhinos a year later. The club also confirmed Will Tate and Noah High will not have their contracts extended beyond this season.
