Grimsby take York midfielder Shelton on loan

Grimsby Town have signed York City midfielder Mark Shelton on loan for the rest of the season. Shelton, 29, only joined York in May upon the expiry of his contract at Barnet, but he has not featured under new Minstermen head coach Scott Lindsey. However, he scored 20 goals in his two seasons at Barnet and he has been involved in four promotions during his career. "Mark's got a really good understanding of League Two and has played a lot of football at this level and in the National League," said Grimsby head coach David Artell. "He's also been part of teams that have won promotion, which is important because he knows what it takes to compete at the top end of a division."
