Gillingham sign midfielder King from Cardiff

Eli King went on loan to Stevenage in 2024-25 [Shutterstock] Gillingham have signed midfielder Eli King from Cardiff City on a permament deal for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old is a product of Cardiff City's academy where he made 10 senior appearances and went on loan spells to Stevenage, Ross County, Morecambe and Crewe. He made his professional debut in October 2021 in a Championship fixture at home to Middlesbrough. Speaking to the club website he said : "It's been a whirlwind today, deadline day always is. I trained this morning and then got straight into my car to Chesterfield! "I've made lots of appearances now; as a player I can play as a six or an eight - I like to get on the ball and get around the pitch and pass through the lines."
