'Amazing to be back' - Chilwell returns on permanent deal

[Getty Images] Ben Chilwell says it is "amazing" to return to Crystal Palace on a permanent deal. The England international previously spent the second half of the 2024-25 season at Selhurst Park on loan from Chelsea, making 11 appearances, and was part of the Eagles squad that won the FA Cup. The 29-year-old spent last season at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, playing 34 times in all competitions and helping the club reach the Conference League semi-finals. "It's amazing to be back," Chilwell said on the move. "It's nice to see some familiar faces, and I'm just really excited to get back in, see the boys and the fans – and get going again." Chilwell won the Champions League and Super Cup during his time at Chelsea and has 21 caps for England - including being part of the squad that reached the Euro 2020 final. "With his experience and quality, Ben played a huge part in us winning our first trophy last year," Palace Chairman Steve Parish added. "It is terrific to welcome him back to Crystal Palace. We hope he can help us to further success."
