Barcelona hold key meeting with teenage star’s agent to increase release clause to €150 million Barcelona have taken another step towards securing Hamza Abdelkarim’s future, with Spanish journalist Juli Claramunt reporting that the Egyptian forward’s agent met with the club on Monday to continue negotiations over an improved contract. The talks come after Barça made clear plans to overhaul Abdelkarim’s current agreement and dramatically increase his €15 million release clause.  The club wants that figure raised to €150 million , reflecting the rapid rise of a player who finished pre-season as Barcelona’s leading goalscorer. Yet Abdelkarim has barely featured since competitive football began. After three matches of the 2026/27 campaign, he has played just four minutes for Hansi Flick’s first team. Simply put, Barcelona wanted to avoid Abdelkarim exploding onto the scene in official matches before his contractual situation had been addressed. The club had already planned an improvement , but the intensity of the final days of the transfer window pushed the negotiations back.  With the market now closed, Barça can concentrate on securing the forward’s position within the squad. According to WinWin (h/t SPORT ), the Egyptian club will receive €750,000 once Abdelkarim makes five official first-team appearances, provided he plays at least 45 minutes in each match.  That amount can rise through additional appearance-related payments to a maximum of €2m. Al Ahly are also due €300,000 once the forward reaches five goals, with further bonuses potentially taking that figure to €1.5m. It is to be noted that Barcelona initially paid €1.5m in fixed fees for the player, meaning the overall cost could eventually reach €6.5m if every provision is triggered.
